Skin Lesion Surgery

There are many kinds of skin lesions, these are nodules that are slightly elevated either on or inside of the skin. The depth of these are far more significant than the width. Some are fixed above the skin while others are in the subcutaneous skin below.

What are Skin Lesions?

Skin lesions come in many forms, some you may have had all of your life, and include cystsmoles and freckles. The problems do not arise simply from having these features, though some people may choose to have them removed for no other reason than aesthetic purposes. The medical issues that come with skin lesions arise when they begin to grow, change in color, and have an asymmetrical formation or uneven borders. For instance, a mole that has multiple shades throughout, or bleeds and does not heal quickly. A lesion that is red, itchy or is obviously evolving in size should be immediately checked.

Other types of skin lesions, such as skin tags are generally not harmful and often occur with age, but can be removed if they become inflamed or irritated. Warts are caused by the human papillomavirus and are spread by touch. You can treat them with topical remedies, but if they persist Dr. Otah can remove them surgically. .

What to Expect During Surgery
